Teacher’s Apple

3 Thoughts

School hasn’t even started yet and I’m already behind!  I guess it’s because we are trying to squeeze every bit out of our last few days of summer vacation.  What a fun, fast summer!

I hope you have stopped by My Time Made Easy to peek at this week’s color challenge:

I enjoy making shaped cards, so with this challenge I made a juicy red apple for the teacher…

Isn’t it yummy?!  I started with MTME’s Back to School digital stamp set.  I cropped the apple (in Photoshop Elements 9), sized it close to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, then printed it out.  Next, I cut out the apple and traced/cut it onto card stock.  Using my nesties, I cut out a bite mark.  To make the apple shine, I embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I cropped and printed this sentiment from this same digi set.  I love how it turned out!

Enjoy your day!

Happy Saturday!

I’m so excited to be joining the talent over at Our Creative Corner this week as their guest designer!  Thank you, ladies!  What an honor!

I hope you’re ready to play along with this week’s challenge.  It’s a fun one…

Color challenge with a twist! Make a card or project using these colors. The twist: use at least three different punches, and one of the three has to be a border punch.

I’ve been enjoying making shaped cards lately, so I decided to make a cupcake!

OCCC Cupcake (Large)

Isn’t it cute?!  The template can be found at The Digichick.  The cupcake “wrapper” was made using my paper crimper.  The “frosting” was embossed with CB D’vine Swirls embossing folder.  The flower’s leaves were made using SU!’s 5-petal flower (cut apart petals to make leaves).  The card opens up like this:

Weaving…Cherry Pie Anyone?

I’m SO happy it’s Friday!  I’m in desperate need of some down time this weekend!  I hope we all get sunny weather :-)

Our Creative Corner is having a fun challenge this week…The Wonder of Weaving.  Although I’m a rookie when it comes to weaving, I wanted to play along!  I came up with a delicious idea…

OCCC Weaving Cherry Pie b (Large)

OCCC Weaving Cherry Pie c (Large)

Cherry pie anyone?  I really love the woven “pie crust” top!  It is Crumb Cake cs, inked with Close to Cocoa to give it the browned look.  I cut out the cherry free hand.  It’s hard to see in the pics, but the cherry pie filling is embossed with my Tiny Bubbles CB embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Verve’s Circular Sayings.

Valentine…Let’s Etch!

Happy Sunday!

Wow, tomorrow is already Valentine’s Day!  I have two class parties to attend.  My triplets are in Kindergarten, and my oldest is in 2nd grade.  I’m one of the “party mom’s” for the 2nd grade party.  I am planning a playground treasure hunt for the game!  It will be fun!!

I have a fun Valentine gift idea to show you today, with lots of pictures.  I have two versions, one for the red lovers and one for the pink at heart (no pun intended)!

The Irish coffee mugs are glass etched in hearts.  Look closely at the pictures and you will see it.  The red hots shows off the etching a little better.  I had intended on filling cellophane bags with Friendship Tea, and placing them in the mugs.  However, the mugs only hold 8 ounces.  I wanted to include more tea mix than that, so I decided to make a gift box to match!  Inside the gift box is Friendship Tea, along with mixing directions.

Lizzy’s Birthday

Today I’m sharing pics of my daughter, Lizzy’s, 8th birthday cake and card.  I’m ashamed to say it was almost a month ago and I haven’t found the time to post yet!!  I think I need to re-arrange my priorities!  Haha!

Lizzy decorated her own cake, and had tons of fun doing it!…

My Triplets Turned 6!!

Happy Saturday!!

What a busy, busy start to the school year!  We’ve been in school for 2 1/2 weeks already and I still haven’t started my “back to school” teacher gifts!!!  I did, however, manage to whip out 3 birthday cards for our triplets.  They informed me a couple days before their birthday that it’s NOT OK for their birthday cards to be late!  Haha!  Well, they weren’t late!!

One thing I decided to do to make things easier for me and more fun for the kids, is to let them decorate their own cakes.  They picked out a shaped Wilton cake pan of their choice.  Once they were baked and cooled, my sister and I outlined the basic designs on the cakes in icing and the kids filled in the rest.  They did AWESOME!!!  I may have chefs in the making!!  Check out these cakes…

Didn’t they do great?!  You can’t really tell from these pics, but in spots the frosting was globbed on SO thick!  Funny 😉

So, going along with their cake themes, I made cards to coordinate (not by color though!).  I’ll show you pics of their cakes and cards here quick, then come back (hopefully tomorrow) with better card pictures and details.

BLT Anniversary…yum!

Hello :-)

Summer is off to a busy start!  I’m still trying to get my feet under me :-)

We just had our 11th wedding anniversary last week.  I wanted something fun and summery for my hubby’s card. I decided to create “outside the box”.   He’s always good for a chuckle :-)  So, do you think this is too far out of the box???

From the side…

BLT Anniversary Card Tim 2010 c (Large)

Isn’t it awesome?!  It screams summer to me!  My hubby loved it :-)

Toast:  I drew and cut out bread on Creamy Caramel CS; embossed it with CB Tiny Mosaic embossing folder; sponged so it looks like toast.

Bacon:  Embossed Bravo Burgundy CS with CB Distressed Stripes embossing folder; sponged raised areas; cut in strips.

Tomato:  Cut circles out of Riding Hood Red CS using Nestabilites.

Lettuce:  Drew and cut out a piece of lettuce-shaped Wild Wasabi CS; paper crimped it several times; crumpled it up then flattened it out a little.

Bite:  Scalloped Circle Nestabilities cut out each layer.

Tooth Pick:  Cut iridescent Easter grass into tiny pieces; dipped the end of the toothpick in glue; rolled the toothpick in grass pieces and let it dry.

Doesn’t it scream summer?  Check out some awesome talent and more summer inspiration HERE at the Pals Paper Arts blog!

Have a great weekend!!
