MTMEPPC16 Red, White and Cute!

Happy Sunday!!

I hope you are having a great 4th of July weekend!!  We are looking forward to the fireworks show Monday.  The kids make holidays so fun.  Their excitement is contagious!!  In spirit of Independence Day, My Time Made Easy’s Pretty Palette Challenge this week is, you guessed it, red, white and blue!

MTMEPPC16

I wanted to make something fun and representative of Independence Day, so I made this…

MTMEPPC16 Red White and Cute (Large)

MTMEPPC16 Red White and Cute b (Large)

This butterfly is from My Time Made Easy’s All A Flutter digi stamp set.  I customized Stars for Students and Picket Fence digi papers by changing their colors in Photoshop Elements for the butterfly and background.  Once the papers were colored, I clipped them with the shapes of the butterfly wings.  I played with it for awhile before I got what I wanted, but persistence paid off!  I love it!  Once printed, I hand cut it and added rhinestones on the corners of the wings. Isn’t it pretty and patriotic?!

I saw this sentiment on a little girl’s shirt and thought it would work great here, so I typed it up and printed it out.

Be sure to check out the rest of the MTME Pretty Palette Team’s creations!!

I hope you play along with us this week!

Have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!!

OCC Guest Designer!

Happy Saturday!

I’m so excited to be joining the talent over at Our Creative Corner this week as their guest designer!  Thank you, ladies!  What an honor!

I hope you’re ready to play along with this week’s challenge.  It’s a fun one…

Color challenge with a twist! Make a card or project using these colors. The twist: use at least three different punches, and one of the three has to be a border punch.

I’ve been enjoying making shaped cards lately, so I decided to make a cupcake!

OCCC Cupcake (Large)

Isn’t it cute?!  The template can be found at The Digichick.  The cupcake “wrapper” was made using my paper crimper.  The “frosting” was embossed with CB D’vine Swirls embossing folder.  The flower’s leaves were made using SU!’s 5-petal flower (cut apart petals to make leaves).  The card opens up like this:

Thanks for stopping by today!  Happy crafting :-)

Weaving…Cherry Pie Anyone?

11 Thoughts

Hi!

I’m SO happy it’s Friday!  I’m in desperate need of some down time this weekend!  I hope we all get sunny weather :-)

Our Creative Corner is having a fun challenge this week…The Wonder of Weaving.  Although I’m a rookie when it comes to weaving, I wanted to play along!  I came up with a delicious idea…

OCCC Weaving Cherry Pie b (Large)

OCCC Weaving Cherry Pie c (Large)

Cherry pie anyone?  I really love the woven “pie crust” top!  It is Crumb Cake cs, inked with Close to Cocoa to give it the browned look.  I cut out the cherry free hand.  It’s hard to see in the pics, but the cherry pie filling is embossed with my Tiny Bubbles CB embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Verve’s Circular Sayings.

Thanks for looking!

BLT Anniversary…yum!

Hello :-)

Summer is off to a busy start!  I’m still trying to get my feet under me :-)

We just had our 11th wedding anniversary last week.  I wanted something fun and summery for my hubby’s card. I decided to create “outside the box”.   He’s always good for a chuckle :-)  So, do you think this is too far out of the box???

Isn’t it awesome?!  It screams summer to me!  My hubby loved it :-)

Toast:  I drew and cut out bread on Creamy Caramel CS; embossed it with CB Tiny Mosaic embossing folder; sponged so it looks like toast.

Bacon:  Embossed Bravo Burgundy CS with CB Distressed Stripes embossing folder; sponged raised areas; cut in strips.

Tomato:  Cut circles out of Riding Hood Red CS using Nestabilites.

Lettuce:  Drew and cut out a piece of lettuce-shaped Wild Wasabi CS; paper crimped it several times; crumpled it up then flattened it out a little.

Bite:  Scalloped Circle Nestabilities cut out each layer.

Tooth Pick:  Cut iridescent Easter grass into tiny pieces; dipped the end of the toothpick in glue; rolled the toothpick in grass pieces and let it dry.

Doesn’t it scream summer?  Check out some awesome talent and more summer inspiration HERE at the Pals Paper Arts blog!

Have a great weekend!!

I’m Still Hooked (on my hubby)

Happy Monday :-)

I hope you are starting the week out with a bang :-)  I’m taking a break from house cleaning to sneak in a quick post.  My hubby and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary Friday.  I have been dying to use this stamp from janlynn called The Art of Casting.  I thought it would be fun to use it for our anniversary to show my hubby I’m still hooked 😉  I’m pretty sure it’s not meant to be an anniversary card, but with a little sense of humor it’s great!  My hubby loved it.  What do you think?

I'm Still Hooked Tim Anniv 2009 (Large)

I made the sentiment on my computer, printed it off and punched it with my word window punch.  I used my Copics to color the image.  A few weeks ago I took the plunge and invested in copics.  I have definitely fallen in love with them.  This is only my third time using them.  It takes time and patience, but it’s worth it.

Thanks for looking :-)
